Ferrozite™
Soil Analysis & Mineral Composition

Ferrozite™ Laboratory Soil Test Results
Independent Soil Analysis — September 9, 2022
Ferrozite™ is a naturally occurring red, iron-bearing soil from Sevier County, Utah. The following results are from a soil sample analyzed by Stukenholtz Laboratory.
Soil Property Laboratory Result
Soil pH 8.6
Extractable Iron (Fe) 7.8 ppm
Calcium Base Saturation 75.4%
Magnesium Base Saturation 19.3%
Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) 11.4 meq/100g
Organic Matter 0.45%
Sulfate-Sulfur 41 ppm
Potassium 68 ppm
Understanding the Results
Iron — 7.8 ppm
The laboratory measured extractable iron, which is different from the total iron contained in the soil's minerals. Ferrozite's distinctive red color is consistent with naturally occurring iron oxides. The report does not measure total iron reserves.
Soil pH — 8.6
Ferrozite is alkaline. Soil pH influences nutrient availability, particularly iron and other micronutrients. Plant selection and soil amendments should account for these conditions.
Calcium and Magnesium
Calcium and magnesium are important plant nutrients and contribute to soil chemistry. Their reported base saturation values help characterize the soil's exchangeable cations.
Cation Exchange Capacity — 11.4
CEC describes a soil's ability to hold positively charged nutrients. This measurement is useful when evaluating nutrient management and soil amendments.
Organic Matter — 0.45%
The tested sample has relatively low organic matter. Incorporating suitable, mature compost can help improve soil structure, moisture management, and biological activity.
A Foundation Built on Real Agricultural Experience
Ferrozite soil has been used in commercial sod production for decades. That practical experience, combined with laboratory testing, helps us understand its characteristics and potential applications.
